Xmeah ShaEla'ReEl was born in 1943 and raised in a family of seventeen children. Originally named David Jones, he grew up in east Texas, served in the Air Force, and then worked for the telephone company. Around 1976 he says he was chosen by the Lord to spread the message of salvation and formed his own church "The Children of Christ of America.". His art is meant to spread his message to the world and can be found in several permanent museum collections including the National Museum of American Art Smithsonian Institution and the Art Museum of Southeast Texas
