Lizzy Williams was born in 1960 in Virginia. After a few
dull jobs, she stopped working to start a family. While
staying home with her children, she became interested in
working with ceramics but was "concerned about leaded paints
with small children under tow", so she turned to painting.
Initially she painted on stretched canvas but found the cost
prohibitive. She found that she really enjoyed painting on
wood, and really enjoyed looking for free wood left in trash
piles. Lizzy is completely self-taught and enjoys the
recycling aspect of her work. Most of her paintings are on
wood which has been cast away destined for the dump. She
freely admits to being a trash picker. Lizzy has yet to
paint a sad painting. Bright colors and bold designs
dominate her works. People love her work because of the
color and whimsy. This is the last of Lizzy William's work
that we will have available. She has decided to take her
career in a new direction and we wish her all the best of
luck.

Lizzy makes art that she calls Wall Jewelry. She takes small blocks of wood ranging from 4 x 4 to 4 x 7 and paints her colorful pictures (flowers, cats, dogs, fish, coffee cups) on them and then strings them with beads for hanging.
