William Thomas Thompson has a message. It may be
political; it may be religious; and it may be evaluation on
our society --- from social issues to pop culture. It also
is from the heart. William did not begin painting until his
mid 50's. An illness that left him somewhat paralyzed in his
legs and temporarily crippled in his hands reordered his
life. When he first put paint brush to canvas, he was
"afraid to touch it ... afraid to get me on it." Fortunately
that did not last. As he became more spiritual, the
philosophy of this visionary artist began to be expressed
through his body of paintings. While he is a layman and not
a minister, William considers art his ministry. His works
represent our personal cross in choosing how we use whatever
time we have left ... our last chance in the cycle of time.
Some emphasize the destruction and danger destroying so many
of our young. He also expresses the importance of
reinforcing the moral structure in our daily lives. William
has exhibited at the American Visionary Art Museum, the
Greenville County Museum of Art, the Piccolo Spoleto
Festival, the Las Vegas Museum of Art, Winthrop College, the
South Carolina State Museum and many others. He did a 300
foot paintings of the Book of Revelations which was the
centerpiece of the American Visionary Art Museum's exhibit,
"The End is Near". William Thompson was covered in a feature
article by "Raw Vision" Magazine in their Winter 2000
edition.

The End is Near artists, William Thomas Thompson and Norbert H. Kox, both known internationally for their Apocalyptic art, have worked in simultaneous unison on an individual canvas, 10 feet x 7 feet, to create a powerful indictment of the apostate universal church system and the traditions of men. It is the first collaborative effort for either of these artists. The piece titled "Idolatry" is a warning against the dangers of religious addiction, referred to in the Greek Scriptures as the drugging of the nations, " ... for by thy drugging were all the nations deceived" (Revelation 18:23).
