Squirrel and Squeakie Stone James (Squeakie) Stone was born in Sand Hill, SC and
lives in the country near Hemingway outside of Andrews. He
is known by and called Squeakie by all his friends and
family. He lives in a house trailer at the end of a long
dirt road. He works as a house painter and started to paint
pictures about 5 years ago. Now he paints obsessively. His
subject matter is mainly architectural; naive paintings of
barns, log cabins, farm buildings and houses. He does a few
portraits and animals. Often, while sitting in the
sweltering South Carolina heat, he will paint his usually
buildings covered with a snow in winter scene. It is likely
he has seen deep snow only in pictures.
