Laddy Sartin was born in Brookhaven, MS in 1951. He grew
up in the country on the back roads of Lincoln County and
spent much of his childhood at his granny Reed's house, his
favorite place on earth. It was there that he acquired his
interest and fascination with the rural images that he now
loves to paint. All of his life he has been fascinated with
the creation of an idea on canvas using brushes and paints,
but he figured that he couldn't draw well enough to be an
artist. Then a friend of his told him that was not the way
to look at it. His friend told him that you create art from
your soul, with the tools you are given, and when you finish
a piece, if it feels right in your heart, that's all that
matters. The next day, July 5th, 1997, Laddy found some old
wood, cleaned it up, and started painting. He has been at it
ever since.
