Six months before R.A. Miller was born on July 22, 1912
his father was shot and killed by a neighbor who wanted to
control a public road. At twelve years of age, R.A. walked
back and forth to work in the cotton mill, where he worked
for twenty years. When he began preaching at Spring Road
Free Will Baptist Church he was inspired by an angel to
start creating art. His yard was filled with whirligigs made
from bicycle wheels and brightly painted tin cut outs of
animals, flags and people. He used magic markers to sketch
the devil, animals and prehistoric cave like figures. He
lived on the land where he was born until his passing in
2006, although the original home was torn apart by a tornado
in 1936.
