Mark was born in 1958 in Jacksonville Florida. His paintings reveal a sophisticated and intensely mystical artist on one level and a man who retains a childlike simplicity about the world and world affairs on another. Mark repeatedly draws a Picasso-style woman in silhouette blowing a trumpet; she is placed among personal symbols that are naive and raw. This duality of creation intrigues and delights the eyes. In 1991 Mark received an emerging artist fellowship and his work was included in the exhibition "Not by Luck: Outsider Art by Southern Folks" |
