JAKE MCCORD

Jake McCord was born in 1945 in Georgia. He lived and worked on the family farm for more than thirty years. Jake and the whole family, including Jake and his eleven brothers and sisters, worked planting and picking crops. In the 1970's he started working for the city, cutting grass in the summer and driving a truck in the winter. He started painting around 1984. The sources of his art are television ... he has six sets and plays at least two or three at all times ... and his childhood. His favorite subjects are farm animals, house pets, women, and houses. He paints in bright colors on plywood. His art was included in the exhibition "Flying Free" in 1997 and one piece shown on this web page "You Can Live Forever" was included in the exhibition "We are Not Alone" at the American Visionary Art Museum in 1999-2000. Also Black Girl in Bikini was included in the exhibition Holy H20 at the American Visionary Art Museum in 2005-2005.
