BETTY SUE MATTHEWS

Betty Sue Matthews is an elderly black woman who lives in rural Alabama. She says she started making art as a young girl ... drawing pictures in the dirt with a stick. More recently she graduated to poster board and paints. Mainly she does bold portraits of men and women, reminiscent of Rev. Anderson Johnson. She also makes tin cut outs that she paints that she calls her Lil Chillin.
