STANLEY MASON

Stanley was from Nova Scotia and worked the seas as a lobster fisherman for more than 75 years starting when he was only 11. Overcome by crippling arthritis, he retired. He began painting stories of his life at sea on squares of cloth the size of a handkerchief ... he painted 13 different ships that he sailed, plus wonderful paintings showing lobster fishing, feasts, birds and animals.Stanley passed away in November 1999.
