Miss Addie was born in South Carolina but moved to North
Carolina as a child. She has no formal art training but she
says, "I've been drawing all my life to make myself happy."
And her paintings and quilts all show happy people ... they
are filled with the memories of children at play. She began
painting more seriously in the 90's when her husband died
and she was on her own. Her art has been shown in numerous
regional community exhibits but she is beginning to attain
national exposure. Her creations are original and unique.
She says, "I don't like copying off of anything. I do
paintings that I vision in my heart and mind. I do them my
own way." A book on Miss Addie, her life and her art is now
in the works and will soon be published.
