William Hunter was about 60 when he was seen last in
1991. He lived in the "Hell's Kitchen" neighborhood in New
York and presumed homeless. William would draw pictures on
the street in pencil, ink, crayon and sometimes watercolors
of people he knew, people he saw and places he knew and
envisioned. When ever he sold a picture he would take the
money and immediately buy scratch lotto tickets. If he won
he would stop for the day ... if not he would go back out on
the street and continue to draw. Occasionally he would be
seen drawing with his friend Arthur James. We have a very
interesting body of drawings.
