For over 30 years Claude Graves has captured the Carolinas in clay and glaze. In 1973 after a year spent studying and documenting folk potters in Spain, North Africa, Mexico and the Canary Islands he refurbished a country store in North Carolina and it became the potters home. The old building houses a workshop where Claude continues to work daily. The natural beauty of the land provides inspiration for the work produced. His goal is to capture North Carolina with his clay and the colors and seasons of the mountains can all be seen in the finished work. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the country and is in many public and private collections.
