The Flinn's live in the midst of rolling hills and meandering creeks and share their 260 acre farm in Missouri with 28 rescued dogs and a very well adjusted cat. Their art includes two different formats ... jewelry and bas-relief wall pieces. Currently 30 galleries carry their work, from Maine to California and even in Tokyo. In a Chicago suburb, at the age of 4, Jill started her art career with a portrait of a big woman with a big hat. "My parents weren't too thrilled," she says. "I used crayon on our cement porch". They work with polymer clay. They work in paper clay. Different additives such as glue and pigment give a resin like surface to the media. Steve mixes the compounds for the pieces and shapes the main surfaces. Then Jill textures and builds up other images on that surface to create a scene or design. The pieces then air harden. Finally, Jill paints them with layers of acrylic paints. "The most rewarding aspect of our work is the positive reaction our customers have toward it," Steve says. "So much so, that in addition to purchasing one or more pieces, some tell us they are inspired to take in that stray or abandoned dog that they found.
