Lisa Cain is a native of a small country town in
Mississippi. Her grandmother who picked cotton all of her
life had a great influence on her. Lisa remembers picking
cotton with her grandmother, walking to the the country
store, and listening to her grandmother tell her about her
childhood. She remembers running chickens, picking plums and
gathering chicken eggs. Lisa has transferred the memories of
her childhood onto canvas. Basically, she paints scenes
depicting southern life. Painting allows Lisa to relax and
to express the beauty that she finds in the simplicity of
life ... the people that she grew up with, her parents,
grandparents, her home church, cousins and friends are
indications of who she is inside. Lisa realizes the value
and the importance of others. She enjoys color and most of
her pictures are colorful. Her paintings are acrylic, oils,
or mixed media. Hopefully her paintings can remind
individuals of those days that were basic but beautiful.
