Rudy Bostic produces vibrant mythical and biblical images, usually painted in enamel or house paint on cardboard. Bostic was born in 1944 in Georgia. As a young boy, without many commercial toys, he made things to entertain himself. At about age seventeen he was asked to paint some pictures for a church. He did this, using cardboard and house paint because they were the only affordable materials available. He still prefers the smooth surface of cardboard to use for his paintings. He paints biblical images and also scenes of popular culture that he sees on television. His work is in the permanent collection of the Hurn Museum of Contemporary Folk Art.
