Tom was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1948. He is a self taught artist who creates "art with an attitude". When he is not creating art, he works restoring old homes in his neighborhood. He is not married, has no pets, does not live in the rural South, and has never seen a vision, but is always open to a new experience. Tom admittedly took up painting after a pivotal "late mid life crisis". Known for his whimsical style and intense use of colors, he works with acrylics on wood and found objects. His unusual multiple cut out paintings are highly sought. Tom's work is nonconforming and highly personal and as he says "My work has only one purpose ... to put a smile on your face". The cheerful results are found in galleries all long the East Coast, and in private collections in the United States, the Caribbean and Europe.
