Kata Billups was born in 1958 in Charleston, West
Virginia. She went to art school for a time but rejected it
as heartless. She considers Howard Finster her mentor. She
began her well-known series of Elvis paintings in which she
incorporates her own life with his, after a visit to
Graceland in 1987. Her art brings a smile to people's faces
and is hanging on many Hollywood celebrities walls as well
as in the permanent collection of the Paris Museum.
